Registration and parents meeting at 6:00 pm on Thursday, October 27th
Purpose:
To promote the great sport of wrestling and to emphasize the fundamentals that will allow our wrestlers the opportunity to succeed. The skills that will be taught and developed in this club will be necessary for success at the junior high and high school levels.
Who Can Join:
Any interested student in grades K- 8th grade.
Location:
City High Wrestling Room, Iowa City High School.
Coaching Staff:
Coach Pete Robles is in his 5th year as our Head Matpac Coach. Former University of Iowa All-American Tyler Nixt is also on the staff for his 3rd year. The Matpac Club program will be coordinated and also coached by City High Head Coach, Brad Smith. Coach Smith will also have his assistants and current City High wrestlers on hand at the practices.
SEASON PRACTICE SCHEDULE
Session 1
Tuesday, November 1st – Thursday, December 16th
Beginners every Monday-Wednesday 6:15-7:15 pm
Competitive every Tuesday-Thursday 6:15-7:15 pm
Session 2
Tuesday December 20th – End of February

Grouping
BEGINNERS CLUB:
Designed for first year wrestlers and wrestlers who have limited experience on the mat. Basic fundamentals will the focus as well as having a good experience and having fun.
COMPETITIVE CLUB:
For the more experienced wrestler as well as for the wrestler that wants to develop skills to have success in competition.
Beginning Club wrestlers have the option of registering for Session 2 at the conclusion of Session 1. |
